The
class settles down to light meditation which clears the mind and prepares
them for the day's instructions as they wait for training to commence.
Stretching will then mark the start of the class as clear explanations
about the purpose and precautions of the various stretches are given to
the newcomers.
The
class is then led through the core of our syllabus, the Sup Saam Sau (13
hands), in organised rows where every student has a clear view of the
instructors leading the drills. As the instructors explain the mechanics
of each movement, the senior students share the responsibility of guiding
the less experienced as all members of the class, regardless of seniority,
join in the common goal of perfecting their basics in a solemn but relaxed
spirit.
The
second half of the lesson is devoted to the learning of forms, calisthenics,
technique applications, Sticky Hand drills and realistic combat training
amongst other things customised to individual progress. Each student is
accessed personally by the instructors on a continuous basis for individual
diagnosis so as to be guided to the full realisation of their unique potentials.
